A recent piking trip to Southern Ireland didn’t get off to the best start for Gary Newman when he arrived to find all the lakes were frozen!

It took four days for the lakes to thaw and, even then, the fishing was still very slow with so much cold water going in, but Gary eventually managed to tempt a few to just into double-figures.

“The fish mostly fell to deep-trolled Bull Dawg lures, bounced along the bottom to annoy the pike into taking them out of aggression,” he commented.
