The final catch in the list was expertly taken by fly angler Trevor Stroud who managed to tempt this stunning 3lb 15oz 8dr grayling on a green nymph.
Targeting a shallow Wessex river, the 55-year-old from Dorchester described the moment his new personal best grayling nailed his fly:
“I was just about to lift the nymph when a large shape came up from the depths!
“It took the bait and turned, which is when i set the hook and my light Greys XF2 Streamflex 6′ 6″ 3wt rod went over big time.
“The fish fought heavily and doggedly, with a couple of upstream runs, head shakes, tail walks and a couple of serious charges past me down stream into the stronger flow before I finally netted her in the shallow water.”
