A trip to a Cotswold Water Park gravel pit produced the goods for predator ace Trevor Gunning, after banking this 4lb 10oz perch which was backed up with another specimen weighing in at4lb 5oz.
Due to Covid restrictions, Trevor hadn’t been able to fish the lake for over a year, but after four unproductive hours, he landed a 4lb 5oz perch on a creature bait lure fished along the deck. After a few more casts, he moved along the bank, and after casting to the edge of the ledge, connected with what he initially thought was a pike.
“It fought deep and hard, but then a huge perch surfaced 10 metres out and gave a heart stopping headshake. I said to myself, stay on, and thankfully it did. I knew it was a bigger fish than the first, and it weighed 4lb 10oz and gave me a brace weighing 8lb 15oz – a fantastic way to get back on those elusive gravel pit perch.”
