Whilst fishing a large and challenging southern venue that produces small numbers of big bream, former Drennan Cup champion Tony Gibson discovered an interesting plateau.
This area is predominantly 11ft deep, with its leading edge stretching out for more than 100 yards, whilst its closest edge rose up to 7ft before dropping off into deeper water. It also had a weed-free ‘dog leg’ around 60 yards out, and that’s where Tony positioned two of his rods.
On these, he used fake-corn-tipped boilie hookbaits over a mixture of Dynamite Baits pellets, particles, corn and groundbait. The only bite of his session came at 1am on the second night of his trip, but his reward was this bream of 16lb 14oz. The fish giving a typical bite for the species, pulling his bobbin tight to the alarm before it dropped to the floor.
Well done Tony!
