Lincolnshire angler Tom Peden recently caught what he describes as a ‘perch angler’s dream’ when he slipped the net under this immaculate fish of 4lb 8oz.
It was caught on a misty morning from a shallow stretch of his local river, where he’d located a deep hole.
Using a vintage split cane rod and centrepin reel, he trotted a worm in the hope of beating his previous PB of 3lb 2oz. When his float dipped, Tom connected with a perch that fought well on his antique tackle before he managed to steer it into the waiting net.
In his words, the perch was ‘deep bodied, beautifully marked, and looked in excellent condition’,
Well done Tom!
