A few days spent tricking corn into an area of the Fens paid off for young Toby Kitchen, who tempted this stunning 3lb 3oz rudd.
His thinking behind pre-baiting was to gain the fish’s confidence, and he certainly did that, with this rudd coming on his first cast of the session. Having baited the swim in the days previous, Toby simply cast out a single grain below a float, which he allowed to travel steadily downstream. It wasn’t long before it slowly dragged under, and he hooked what he knew right away was a good fish. He describes landing it as a ‘surreal feeling’, on what was a day to remember.
Well done Toby!
