Ace specimen anglers Stuart Court, from Watford, and Steve Stones from the Angling Times enjoyed a productive trip to the River Lea in search of monster Chub before the season ended. Starting in wet and windy conditions meant the lads were unable to fish the waggler and maggot as planned, and fishing in a tight swim they elected to take it turns fishing with one rod, whilst the other fed – excellent teamwork!
In order to minimize disturbance the lads opted for a subtle free-lined cheesepaste tactic, presented on a size 8 Drennan Wide Gape Specialist micro-barbed hook. And it worked, as on day one the lads shared 9 good fish, with this 6lb 8oz specimen by Stuart being the pick of the catch.
