We recently sent a pre-production monofilament sample to Drennan Team England’s Stu Conroy to look at, use and evaluate. Stu provided us with the following feedback, which we thought you might all find interesting!
“Last weekend I decided to put the new low diameter monofiliament to the test. Fishing a 4 metre Drennan Team England whip to hand with a flick-tip, I did not get broken once, despite hooking some decent fish very close to the surface, the fact I had no elastic was not a problem. This was mainly due to the stretch of the line, although fish up to 6oz could easily be swung to hand.
I fished with the 0.128mm mainline to an 0.116mm hooklength and a size 18 Drennan NU barbless maggot hook; a 4×12 pencil float completed the set up. I was also very impressed with the memory of the line. After catching four hundred fish for a 48lb total in four hours, the rig hooked-up exactly where it started! Two pints of castors were fed in two kilos of groundbait (slop) with a single caster proving the best hookbait. I had a very enjoyable (if not profitable) session, also good practice for the World Champs in case I have to fish the whip for Bleak!
This line will be on all my future rigs for definite!”
