Nothing could quite prepare him for this 1lb specimen!

Steve Spiller had a session to remember when he ventured down to the Hampshire Avon for a day’s fishing with Matt Tann in search of dace. Steve landed plenty of fish throughout the day but nothing could quite prepare him for this 1lb specimen. When the fish broke the surface he initially thought it was a small chub so was happy to hand land it, that soon changed when he saw the dace and his legs went to jelly as he scrambled for the landing net!

This was backed up with several other fish of 12-13oz, all fish were caught on his Acolyte float rod, trotting single red maggots to a small slack under some overhanging trees.
