Stephen Gibbons was one of several anglers to get in on the action at the end of the season, employing trotted maggot tactics to land this 7lb 15oz specimen from the Dorset Stour.
He told us “I’d fed the swim steadily since 7am and had landed a few chub and a nice rogue roach before hitting into a fish that tried to reach the far bank snags. Eventually, I managed to move it, and the water erupted when it surfaced close in. Two maggots on a size 20 Super Spade did the trick.”
