After racking up what he describes as a ‘serious amount of blanks’ in search of eels, it’d have been easy for Norfolk angler Stephen Gibbons to fall apart when he missed a bite at 2am on a recent trip

But after casting straight back out, he had another take before he managed to get back into bed and landed this superb fish of 6lb 3oz.
It fell to Dyson-rigged lobworms fished four feet off bottom on a spot close-in where he’d fed dead maggots, cat meat, and crab liquid. The fish continues a great start to the season for Stephen, having already landed an 11lb 4oz tench.
Well done Stephen!
