Having just caught a 2lb 8oz 8dr roach on a previous session from the River Wensum, Stephen Gibbons returned and went one better this time, managing this lovely 2lb 10oz specimen.

He was fishing as a guest on a private stretch that he found running high and coloured. As such, he targeted a slack behind a fallen tree on the far bank, where he introduced five bait dropped filled with bread crumb and hemp, flavoured with aniseed. Over the top, he cast a small mesh feeder and a breadflake hookbait. After missing a few taps on the quiver tip, he had a positive pull-round at 3:30pm and connected with a fish that dived for the near-side snags, before he netted the special roach.
Well done Stephen!
