Famous Norfolk specimen angler, artist and author, Chris Turnbull, recently spent an enjoyable day on the banks of the River Test.

“I must admit I was fishing for grayling at the time, but ended up with this personal best dace of 14oz instead! To be honest while I knew it was a big fish, I wasn’t aware just how special dace of this size are. But comments since the capture suggest that it is a very rare fish,” explained Chris.

It was caught on three red maggots on a size 14 hook, trotted under a No2 Drennan Wire Avon, using a 14 ft Matchpro Ultralight rod, Series 7 reel and 3.2 lb Float Fish line.
