Many thanks to Simon Ashton for this fantastic photo of a bream he caught this weekend using the Drennan Distance Tench and Bream Rod and size 10 Specimen Plus hooks.
“I baited a bar that I knew ran in front of me, at a range of 60 yards in quite a strong crosswind, balling in around 30 small balls of krill & hemp hali crush. The mix also had hemp & corn with a good helping of salted nut 2mm pellets. These were dampened down before hand in lake water with the intention of creating an excellent binder. This was imperative as the balls need to stay formed and hold till they reach the lakebed. At this point the grownbait needs to break down in a steady fashion, littering over your chosen spot. The use of the crushed hemp enables this no problem.
I wasn’t blessed with many takes and I did loose a fish first night, but having a brace weighing 12lb and 12lb 2oz made up for it!
