Perch are known for their angry, head-shaking fight, but this 4lb 13oz specimen went on a few surging runs before being landed by Sean Corbett.

He was fishing the in-form Grafham Water with his friend, Karl Bird, and had the fish on a 10cm shad just as he started his retrieve. The powerful yet unusual fight had Sean convinced he’d hooked a zander, but a flash of stripes and red fins told him he was attached to his target species.
After a few nervy moments, the fish rolled over the net, leaving Sean feeling ‘blown away’. He went on to land another of 4lb 5oz on a crank bait, completing a real red-letter day.
Well done Sean!
