When most think of fishing in Scotland, it’s generally salmon, trout or grayling that come to mind but Scott Jose highlighted that the country has big potential with predators too, after landing this stunning 4lb 4oz perch.
He’s been after a four-pounder for many years but had always fallen slightly short. However, on a trip to a loch in south west Scotland, his fortunes changed.
He targeted a shallow bay where he could wade well out and target the drop off, just beyond some lily pads. It was overcast and humid, with a nice ripple on the water, and Scott was confident of a bite.
He cast a pink Rapala finesse stickbait, which he twitched in a static position. It wasn’t long before he felt a thump on his light rod, and right away he knew he’d hooked something big, as it worked the drag on his reel. Scott wondered if a pike had picked up his lure, but when the fish hit the surface, he knew it was the four-pounder he was after.
Well done Scott!
