A 7lb chub is a great specimen for Yorkshire anglers and a target many anglers hope to achieve, well that’s exactly what Sam Hubbard has done with this 7lb 2oz specimen.

It’s the culmination of two winters he’s spent searching for the fish on North Yorkshire rivers and was braced with an impressive 6lb 13oz chevin. Sam had been fishing a couple of hours into darkness, using a paste as bait, when he had a gentle knock on his quiver tip which was later followed by a more positive pull. He struck into a heavy fish that thumped towards a downstream snag, but steady pressure he steered it towards the net. Once he lifted it out the water, he knew it was the fish he’d been after.
Well done Sam!
