Fly fishing for predators has certainly soared in popularity in recent years, and whilst it’s mainly pike that are targeted on the tactic, Ryan Dolby proved that perch can be caught on it too after landing this specimen of 4lb 12oz.
He was fishing at Grafham Water – a venue in great form with the species – where he found a shoal of perch harassing a ball of baitfish to the point where they were boiling on the surface. Wanting to catch their attention, he opted for a bright fly which he quickly stripped through the frenzy. He soon had a hard hit, with the perch giving a great fight before hitting the net.
Well done Ryan!
