Grafham Water is arguably the UK’s most in-form perch venue. There can be few better places to head for a PB, as Romain Herath found when he banked this 4lb 12oz specimen.
It was the Leicestershire angler’s time on the water, and he arrived keen to beat his previous PB of 2lb 5oz. Using lure tactics, he covered as much water as possible, fishing a creature bait incredibly slowly, with almost no movement at all. In fact, Romain relied on only the rocking of the boat and the drift to gently move the lure up and down.
Out of nowhere, Romain felt a small bump and struck into what he expected to be a zander. But, to his delight, a ‘football-sized’ perch surfaced. It weighed 4lb 12oz and measured 45cm.
Well done Romain!
