River Severn Chubbing Using Gripmesh Feeders

Cheshire based Stuart Maddocks has sent in some great photographs from his recent sessions on the Upper River Severn.

Over the past 6 weeks Stuart has been targeting the upper reaches the River Severn with great success. Feeding mashed bread using a Gripmesh Feeder and a big smelly hookbait mounted on a size 4 Super Specialist hook, he has landed 8 chub over 5lb with the best pictured above at 5lb 8oz.

“It’s a tough and wild venue, to say the least, and we have received some fairly heavy rainfall on the welsh border of late. I have been targeting the slack water once the river level starts to fall trying to tempt a few chub,” explained Stuart.

The internal ‘grip spikes’ that give the Gripmesh Feeder its name are of different lengths so they really do hold the bait well, even in the strongest of flows. They are a tough, durable feeder perfect for river fishing and come in various sizes to suit different conditions.
