The ‘secret’ of keeping a large number of fish competing for feed is constantly spraying maggots – not huge amounts, but a non-stop spray of small amounts of grubs. This means the natural greed and competitiveness of the shoaling chub encourages them to try to get to the falling maggots before their shoal-mates, often leading to very positive, almost unmissable bites!
