Half a mackerel was enough to tempt this lovely 30lb 4oz river pike for Bristol angler, Richard Earl.
Targeting a weir pool on the Bristol Avon, Richard landed other fish on the day, but it’s no surprise that the 30 was the star of the show. Upon hooking the fish, his rod doubled over, and although the fish didn’t put up a blistering fight, it used its weight well, cruising towards some trees. Thankfully, Richard’s powerful gear held, with his 18lb line and a 40lb trace doing the business. As with most river pike, the fish was long and lean.
Well done Richard!
