During a Kayak fishing event Richard Archer tempted this phenomenal 36lb pike on lure tactics from the margins of a midlands reservoir.
He was fishing a 12cm soft plastic shad and, after a few hours with little to show for his efforts, felt a huge thump down the rod. Immediately it doubled over, and he knew he’d hooked a big fish.
Battling it from his kayak, he was amazed by the size of the fish when surfaced. After a few powerful runs with the fish dragging him about, a competitor was on hand to help net the pike. It measured 112cm and weighed 36lb, making it one of the three biggest kayak-caught pike ever landed in the UK.
Well done Richard!
