Former Drennan Cup champion Rich Wilby has had various few big roach in his time but until recently, he’d never managed that magical three-pounder on the float.
However, that all changed on a recent afternoon visit to a Norfolk stillwater as he achieved just that, making the most of good conditions and landing this stunning 3lb 1oz fish.
Rich targeted the near margins using a waggler and maggot tactics on light gear, with a size 18 hook and 2lb line. He added “The fish gave a great scrap, dogging around and wallowing on the surface before I managed to slip the net under it and cross that one off the list.”
