Tony Peet caught this impressive roach while out on the banks of the River Ribble just as it was fining down after recent rain.

Hemp and tares were Tony’s bait of choice for the session. He used his trusty 13ft Acolyte Ultra rod couple with a closed face reel, loaded with 2lb Float Fish line. He used one of our Stick Floats with eight No4s strung out down the line, shirt-button style, to a 0.08mm hooklength and size 20 hook.
“You can’t beat the combination of well-balanced tackle for targeting river roach,” He explained. “The Acolyte is the best rod I have used for this style of fishing and Float Fish line is without a doubt the best line for presentation of a float on running water. Playing a big roach on light, well-balanced tackle is as good as it gets!”
