Marcus Weaver from South Wales, has managed to beat his personal best barbel twice in as many trips on the mighty River Trent.

“I have only had two trips to the Trent this season, as it is a 400-mile round trip. But on both trips I have smashed personal bests! The first trip was with a barbel of 14lb 4oz on my first cast. Then I beat that six weeks later, with a 15lb 4oz barbel within half an hour of fishing,” Marcus explained.

Both barbel were caught with the Martin Bowler Specialist Barbel 12ft 1.75lb rod, using a combi rig incorporating 15lb Camo Sink Link braid.
