Northern Ireland is hosting the long-awaited return of the Home International this Friday and Saturday.
England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland will be competing on the O’Rourkes Coal Yard stretch of the Newry Canal on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of October.
It has been a number of years since a Home International event of this kind has taken place. This year’s event has been organised by Irish International Team Manager, Mark Theedom, and the Newry Canal Coarse Fishing Club.
A revised format now allows newer anglers to gain international experience alongside more established team members. Each team of seven will consist of two current internationals, two new anglers or Under 25s and three others. It will therefore be a great opportunity to see rising talent fishing alongside existing world class anglers.
The official practice day is on Thursday 22nd October with the match itself taking place over two days on Friday and Saturday. Fishing is from 11am to 3pm and spectators are welcome.
