Tench enthusiast, Paul Garrett, caught this magnificent looking 8lb 3oz specimen, and two others, after a fortunate change in weather conditions.
I attended the Tenchfishers 60th anniversary fish in at Lechlade’s Horseshoe Lake and managed to bag three tench in nothing short of horrendous weather,” Paul explained.
“After a biteless 24 hours, the wind switched and I had three tench in quick succession, all taken on popped-up dendra over an open ended feeder containing chopped worm and caster sandwiched between my own groundbait concoction.
“The best (pictured) was 8lb 3oz. A fellow Tenchfisher friend who I shared a swim with also bagged four in quick succession too, as the tench fed heavily in our swim… albeit briefly!”
Paul used Drennan 1 3/4lb Tench/Bream rods and Drennan barbless Super Specialist hooks.
