Coventry’s much respected specimen angler Phil Smith has caught one of the very biggest Tench of 2013 with this 12lb 1oz monster!
Phil has been fishing a really difficult, large gravel pit where just getting a bite is difficult – but the rewards are potentially high – as illustrated when Phil spent 10 day sessions in pursuit of specimen Tench before this one came along this Summer!
Phil baited up a bar with method feed, Vitalin and groundbait, hemp, sweetcorn, 10mm Dynamite Source boilies and small pellets, and then fished a small flat-bed method feeder over the top. The hookbait was a 10mm boilie on a short, Gravel Braid hooklink.
Great angling Phil!
