Peter Drennan took a few hours out to fish for Oxfordshire gravel pit tench earlier in the week. Although the weather was very indifferent and changeable on the day (sunny one hour, windy and raining the next) a few nice fish were caught!
Peter prefers to float fish for Tench whenever possible – and by using a really big, stable Insert Crystal Waggler, was able to counteract the stiff breeze blowing across the pit; in fact you can see the ripple in the background. This strategy seems to be a bit of a forgotten art amongst many modern day anglers – and its aided by the trick of being able to change the sight tip in the float (with the aid of a pack of Drennan Combo Tips!) to suit different light & water surface conditions.
A packet of Combo tips normally retails at just £2.99 a packet and the three different packs include various size, shape and colour tops to fit Drennan Insert Crystal Wagglers, Puddle Chucker Floats or Giant Crystals.
