Having never targeted grayling before, Peter Marshall decided to have a day out of the shop and do a spot of grayling fishing on the famous lower Itchen fishery.

He used his old Drennan Team England Carp Waggler rod teamed with a Young’s Purist centrepin, 4lb Supplex line, a 5BB Wire Avon float and a size 16 Super Spade hook baited with three red maggots.

“I caught 15 grayling averaging 1lb 11oz to 2lb. I also landed 10 wild brownies up to 2lb 8oz and three sea trout to 3lb 8oz. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and I’m no longer a grayling virgin,” added Peter.
