..with this 8lb 3oz beast falling to Essex angler, Peter Davies. Fishing the legendary Kings Weir Fishery on the River Lea, Peter landed the fish on a homemade paste wrapped around a size 10 hook and fished on 6lb line, fished with a link leger and a light quivertip rod.
Conditions were tricky, with the river very clear, and after trying a few swims with no success he dropped into a classic chub swim as darkness drew in. Expecting finicky bites, his rod hooped round and after a short intense fight he kept the fish away from the snags and netted it first time. He didn’t realise quite how big it was, but on the bank, he soon realised it was an ‘unbelievable specimen’. It shatters his previous PB of 6lb 15oz and is a just reward for the hard work he’s put in at the venue.
Well done Peter!
