After a daunting drive through the New Forest to the Hampshire Avon during strong winds, Pete Wilson was rewarded for his efforts when he banked this lovely 2lb 10oz roach.
Usually, he’d have fished the float, but due to the wind that wasn’t a viable option, so he rigged up a maggot feeder instead. Using a 0.14mm hooklink and size 14 hook, he caught a dozen roach before losing a big fish to a pike. He retackled and targeted a different area of the swim, away from the pike, and around half an hour later his tip flew round. A great scrap followed before he landed a new PB roach of 2lb 10oz – the highlight of his season.
Well done Pete!
