Christian Tyroll has bagged a personal best 5lb 15oz chub from the River Dove.
“I touch-legered with cheese paste made up of bread, Danish Blue, Parmesan and Cheddar,” he explained. “The fish came from a nice deep swim and used the depth well during the fight.”
“I used a Series 7 1.25lb rod, 6lb line straight through to a size 6 Super Specialist. I am always surprised by how strong these rods are though, still a good bit of power in reserve!
“I was so chuffed I had a couple of half-hearted casts afterwards then came home. Thanks for making such reliable tackle. My collection is slowly becoming filled with Drennan!”
UPDATE:
Christian did even better a couple of weeks later with this quality 6lb 11oz specimen!
“It was caught on a quick after-work session,” he explained. “I baited four swims with a ball of bread about the size of a cricket ball and then spent 20 minutes in each swim. In the first two swims I had some bites that I couldn’t connect with. I missed a bite almost immediately after casting out in the third swim, then next cast connected with this cracker. The successful bait was cheese paste again.”
Well done Christian!
