A heavy frost didn’t deter Oxford based angler Paul Scowen on a trip to a southeast reservoir, where he tempted this stunning 4lb 7oz perch.
Arriving to find his bow-mounted motor frozen in its bracket, Paul was forced to use the water in his flask to thaw it before it could be deployed. He then set about locating the fish, and found they were tightly balled up, likely due to the drop in temperature.
He noticed that the fish weren’t particularly reactive to his lures, but eventually he got one to take, and after a dogged fight a 4lb 7oz fish lay in the net. He returned the following morning and added another of 4lb 1oz.
Well done Paul!
