“A screaming take and an epic battle with the fish over shallow water”
Whilst the Dorset Stour is currently best known for its immense chub, local angler Paul Potter managed this belting barbel from the famous Throop fishery, weighing in at exactly 16lb.
Fishing a 13mm boilie of his own design, created specifically for use on his local rivers, Paul had a screaming take and an epic battle with the fish over shallow water. A foot-long fluorocarbon hooklink and size 8 at the business end held the fish, and he also used backleads to pin his line right down away from the feeding fish.
Well done Paul!
