Lancashire angler Paul Houghton has made the 250-mile round trip to target the tidal River Trent’s barbel numerous times this season, but his efforts were definitely paid off when he banked this lovely specimen weighing 18lb exactly..
..Paul felt he had missed his chance of a PB barbel two weeks ago when he helped weigh and photograph an 18lb 7oz fish from a swim he wanted to fish. However, returning last Friday after he finished work, he landed the very same fish, 7oz down in weight. It’s a result he’s delighted with, particularly after all the legwork involved. A small homemade boilie fished on a size 10 and 4ft hooklink did the trick below a 5oz feeder containing hemp and small pellets.
Well done Paul!
