The practice match for the next round of the Oxford Winter League was fished by 44 anglers on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Upper and Lower Dunmill in Hungerford.
The anglers were presented with a clear canal and very cold overnight temperatures. The end pegs and feature pegs were predictably going to the fore in the results, but there were plenty of small roach to be caught throughout the field.
1st: Paul Glenfield (Drennan Oxford) – 10lb 1oz
Paul drew the end peg just below the bridge at Upper Dunmill and caught one decent perch along with lots of skimmers mainly on red maggot fished over chopped worm on the pole.
2nd: Martin Phipps (Drennan Oxford) – 9lb 2oz
Martin was on top end peg at Lower Dunmill and caught mainly roach on pinkie over loose fed squat on the pole.
3rd: Tony Hobbs (Drennan Oxford) – 8lb 5oz
Tony drew the bottom end peg at Upper Dunmill and caught perch on chop worm and roach on squat.
4th: Steve Page (Drennan Oxford) – 7lb 12oz
Steve drew a feature peg at Lower Dunmill and caught perch on pole fished worm over a bed of chopped worm.
