Thanks to St Neots ace angler Paul Elt for this truly gorgeous picture of a fully scaled Spring Carp – probably the best looking carp image we’ve received in 2013 to date!
Paul always likes to start Spring with a few carp before switching to the Tench when things really warm up, and bagged this brace of 20lb Mirrors from a tricky club water. He was using a size 6 ESP Chod Rig baited with a single Dynamite Baits Pineapple Hi-Viz pop-up, which he cast to showing fish on the back of a cold wind.
Paul tells us he always uses a Drennan in-line Olivette up the line in order to pin down the mainline and avoid spooking fish. The olivettes are beautifully streamlined so don’t adversely affect casting, and also don’t cause a problem when playing fish.
“A good result because some of the regulars have fished there all spring and had yet to get off the mark!” quipped Paul.
Great angling!
