Paul Elt trotting for Chub on the River Ivel with a Drennan Matchpro Ultralight 14ft rod taken from last week’s “Gary Newman’s Angling Adventures” in the Anglers Mail.

On a difficult cold day Paul managed a nice Chub of 4lb 4oz, using a Crystal Avon float to trot maggots.

Gary Newman adopted similar tactics for his first time fishing the river, but used an IM9 Classic rod – and bagged a quite superb fish of 5lb 2oz!
