Having the patience to feed your target fish, allowing them to lose their natural caution and feed confidently, can swing the odds of capture massively in your favour, as Paul Brooks proved with this gorgeous 3lb 1oz rudd.
He’d located a group of good fish on a Fenland river and spent time feeding them bread until the larger members of the shoal were feeding well. Using a bread hookbait, Paul tempted two fish over 2lb right away, plus another three under that mark, before banking the 3lb 1oz specimen. It engulfed his hookbait right on the surface, reacting immediately as it hit water.
Well done Paul!
