The River Thames was in great form for the Oxford Summer League with seven weights over 19lb and numerous double-figure catches.
Held on the Folly Bridge and Sanford sections, the river was carrying a brown tinge from an algae bloom which helped to encourage the fish to feed. Drennan Oxford Yellow’s Tony Hobbs headed a really tight frame with a match winning 20lb 15oz from the top end peg at Folly below Osney Lock. He had a bream plus skimmers and perch on the pole and maggot over chopped worm plus roach on pole and caster.
Just an ounce behind was Geoff Vallance with 20lb 14oz. He drew at the bottom of Marlborough Road at Folly and had five bream on feeder and pole tactics. Third place went to Arnold Liaukevicius with 20lb 5oz from the top end of Coca Cola bay at Folly. He had six bream on an open end feeder with worm plus roach on pole and caster.
Drennan Oxford Yellow and Devizes MG tied on the day with 41 points and Drennan Oxford Blue on 33 points. Oxford Yellow are now comfortably ahead in the league with 192 points, Drennan Oxford Blue have 170 points and Devizes MG are third on 162 points.
