Another cracking fish from the hugely impressive & consistent young angler Ollie Jenkinson, who is just 14 and from Bedfordshire.
Ollie has put a lot of time and effort into his fishing this year and this has really paid off, as he’s caught more quality fish this summer already, from various local venues and rivers, than most of us will catch all season!
This quality Chub weighed 5lb 9oz and Ollie tells us he used large chunks of meat, one of four Chub that evening.
This terrific Barbel weighed 13lb 6oz and narrowly increased a personal best – coming on the same method and 10lb mainline. Ollie tells us all these fish came whilst using his trusty FD 4000 reel.
The pretty 14oz Roach below came after Ollie managed to locate a shoal, and he managed to catch three on pieces of bread flake on a size 8 Super Specialist hook. He commented that the biggest fish in the group looked at least 2lb; so that’s no doubt a future target!
Ollie says that since he started wearing his new Drennan cap, its become quite lucky – but we think skill and hard work are the real reasons behind his spectacular results…
