Nick Pinder has been after a big perch for a while and has put plenty of effort into catching one, but with little reward. However, having heard that a large midlands reservoir could throw up a decent fish, he planned a visit, and on his first trip to the water achieved his target in the shape of this 5lb 1oz specimen.
Conditions were perfect on the day, with it being still and overcast, and after finding a few fish he targeted the area with Texas rigs. His very first bite of the trip was from the five-pounder, with the fish coming to the net after a heavy fight.
