It’s been a phenomenal season for big stillwater roach already, and catches show no signs of slowing, as Neil Tristram landed this 3lb 12oz redfin alongside one of 2lb 15oz 8dr.
The Nottinghamshire angler was fishing a syndicate gravel pit in his home county, where he caught the pair of fish within a five-minute feeding spell.
However, the trip was nearly called off altogether, as Neil ran into awful traffic on the A1 and considered heading home. Thankfully, he persevered and was rewarded with the roach-brace of a lifetime. The specimens are the result of a long campaign on the water, which is predominantly fished by carp anglers. Both fell to maggot feeder tactics, incorporating short three-inch hooklinks and triple red maggot hookbaits. He also lost a fish during the five-minute feeding window, but he didn’t mind too much!
Well done Neil!
