In an era of high-tech baits, good old luncheon meat still seems as effective as ever, as Neale Woodward proved when he tempted this 17lb 2oz barbel.
He was fishing the in-form stretch of the River Lea at King’s Weir, where targeted a spot close to his own bank. Presenting a lump of Spam, a 16lb fluorocarbon hooklink, helped subdue the powerful fish. Neale’s been enjoying his time on the famous fishery, and with fish like this, it’s easy to see why!
Well done Neale!
