A trip to a Dorset chalk stream was, despite high water levels, a success for Mark Meth-Cohn, who tempted this grayling of 3lb exactly.
He headed for a swim he knows can hold fish in such conditions, where there’s deeper water along the far bank. Due to difficultly with his presentation on the float due to the current pulling his rig back towards him. Mark decided to targete a spot further upstream than usual and, after catching a few small grayling and an odd trout, his float buried and he hooked what he instantly knew was a bigger fish.
Precariously, he picked his way down the flooded bank, using his landing net pole to probe for firm ground. He managed to keep in touch with the fish throughout, and safely netted the specimen that smashes his previous PB by 13oz.
Well done Mark!
