The Ribble has been in great form this season, and as well as big barbel and shoals of silverfish, the venue also holds some cracking perch, with this 4lb 10oz perch being a prime example.
It was landed by local angler Mark Kellett, who tempted the fish on lure tactics. He targeted a snaggy swim where he’d found good perch previously and fished a soft plastic TRD lure at snail’s pace along the deck. On just his fourth cast, he felt an almighty ‘thump’ on the rod tip and hit into a fish that he knew immediately was a good one. After a lengthy battle on his ultra-light setup, he landed the whopping stripy.
Well done Mark!
