‘The beast of the Lea’
A boat can be a massive aid in fishing, particularly as they allow you to target areas other anglers can’t always get to but also allow you to cover much more water in a shorter space of time.
Mark Hewett took full advantage of his on a recent trip to the Lea, landing this 4lb 9oz stripy. The Essex angler targeted four spots where he’s had success with perch in the past before finding what he describes as ‘the beast of the Lea’. A small float-fished roach livebait fished just a few inches off bottom near some underwater structure tempted the fish, and it put a great bend in his new 9ft livebait rod.
