With plummeting night time temperatures, many crucian anglers turn their attention to other species at this time of year. But Essex angler, Mark Fox decided on a trip to surrey’s Johnsons Lake in search of the species and was rewarded with this 4lb 1oz PB..
Fishing a short overnighter, Mark found the lake dead calm, with no signs of fish moving anywhere. He feared a blank but kept casting his small method feeder loaded with 4mm pellets and 6mm Band’um hookbait. Just before daylight his rod sprang into life, and after a short but spirited fight he slid the net under his first ever four-pound crucian, at 4lb 1oz.
